The next morning, Elara set out on her quest. The pendant pulsed gently, guiding her towards the mountains that loomed in the distance. The villagers were unaware of her mission, and she preferred it that way; this was her adventure, and she would not let fear hold her back.
After two days of travel, Elara reached the base of the mountains. The air grew colder, and the path became steep and rocky. As she climbed higher, she noticed the landscape changing. The vibrant greenery of Eldoria gave way to jagged rocks and swirling mists. It was here that she heard the echoes of laughter—a sound both alluring and haunting.
Following the sound, Elara found herself in a hidden cave, where colorful crystals illuminated the walls. At the center of the cave stood a pedestal, upon which rested a beautiful sapphire orb, the first relic. As she stepped closer, however, a figure emerged from the shadows—a mountain troll, its eyes gleaming with mischief.
“Only those who prove their worth may take the orb,” the troll grunted, crossing its arms. “You must answer my riddle.”
Elara’s heart raced, but she stood tall. “I accept your challenge.”
The troll grinned and recited the riddle: “I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with the wind. What am I?”
Elara pondered, her mind racing. Suddenly, the answer came to her. “An echo!”
The troll’s expression shifted from amusement to surprise. “Correct! You have proven yourself, young seeker. The orb is yours.”
With a triumphant smile, Elara took the sapphire orb, feeling its cool energy pulse in her hand. As she left the cave, she realized she had taken the first step towards restoring balance to Eldoria.
